A Rare Antique German Late 19th Century, Silver and Stone Set Figural Jewellery Cabinet. Circa 1890, in the Renaissance 16th Century style. The large table cabinet modelled as a standing lady with headdress and gem set earrings. The dress is set with various semi-precious stones and hardstone cabochons, including turquoise, amethyst, lapis lazuli, garnets and agate. The front of the bodice is hinged and opens up to five compartments. The skirt of the dress has a pair of hinged doors that open to reveal a fitted interior of nine wooden drawers with silver acanthus leaf mounts with pseudo earlier marks. The interior of a drawer has a label inscribed ‘SAMMLUNG OTTO F. ERNST WIESBADEN No. 159’ with an old German catalogue entry and a hand written note regarding the pseudo marks. Approximately 6490g/208 oz/18 dwt weight. 72cm tall. Purchased at Sotherby's. Winning bidder must collect from Cadmore HQ or arrange a courier service.
