Scarce Signed WS Brown Howells Mill, Atlanta Jug - Scarce Signed W.S. Brown (1832-1900) Howells Mill, Atlanta Jug. This is one of the most significant discoveries of Brown Family Pottery in the Atlanta, Georgia area in many many moons, also he only potted for one year period, so examples are going to be scarce. This jug is a fresh discovery from a estate in Newton County, Georgia and has never been seen before. This three gallon is stamped on the shoulder with some type of coggle wheel decoration above the mark. The jug is the only known example I have seen before. And two others are known but each one is a different style of jug which makes them all very unique. The jug also has the City misspelled as well. This is a rare jug and will make a fine addition in the Atlanta stoneware collectors and the Brown collectors as well. Shows typical wear for age and use. No major damage or cracks or repairs.
