Freddie Mercury's Personal Onitsuka Tiger High-Top Sneakers (No Buyer's Premium) - Freddie Mercury's Personal Onitsuka Tiger High-Top Sneakers (No Buyer's Premium) A pair of black nylon Onitsuka Tiger high-top sneakers with white leather side logos, personally owned by Freddie Mercury (1946-1991). Sold as part of the landmark Sotheby's ”A World of His Own” auction, London, 13 September 2023 (Lot 2131). One shoe has its insole marked ”FB” in pen -- a reference to Freddie's birth name, Farrokh Bulsara. The sneakers show authentic wear consistent with regular use. At the time of the Sotheby's sale, it was believed the black pair was worn exclusively off-stage. However, a photograph has since surfaced of Mercury wearing this exact black-and-white colour combination on stage during a Queen concert in Hamburg, 17 January 1979.
