Incredible Antique Travel Chest with Original Immigration Stamp from Italy - Good overall antique condition considering age and use. Side leather handles are still attached. Over lapping leather straps are broken off. 32.5 x 19 x 21.5 History: Current owner's great aunt used this chest to immigrate from Italy through Ellis island. She was coming to the US to see her husband who, at the time, was working on the railroads in Pennsylvania. Incredible history behind this piece showcasing early immigration ”the era of Ellis Island” between 1880-1920 from southern and eastern Europe. During this time the US saw an increase of ethnic diversity and was a turning point that made the US what it is today. The original immigration stamps/tags still being visible add incredible detail to this piece. Own a piece of history!
