Dutch Delft Earthenware Tile, After Hendrik Willem Mesdag, 'Volendam' - A Dutch Delft earthenware tile, depicting a scene in the manner of Hendrik Willem Mesdag. The central artwork features two women in traditional Dutch attire, standing by a body of water with sailboats in the background, executed in a folk-art style with visible brushstrokes and a textured ground. The bottom left of the image is inscribed ”VOLENDAM,” and the bottom right displays a triangular maker's mark with a monogram (appearing as an 'M' or 'MA') above ”-DELFT-”. The tile is set within a dark, possibly oak, wooden frame with a visible grain.
