Each naturalistic vignette depicts a polychrome-painted porcelain bird – specifically a robin, goldfinch, chickadee, and bluebird – perched on dark, patinated cast metal branches or bases. Complementary botanical elements such as a daffodil, thistle, berry branches, and a hibiscus flower are also rendered in porcelain and metal. The underside of at least one cast metal base features an impressed maker's mark: ”BOEHM”.
