Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Vintage-Style Porcelain
A Pair of Vintage-Style Porcelain Hobo Clown Dolls, Made in Thailand - This lot comprises a pair of vintage-style clown dolls, likely dating to the late 20th century, each exhibiting characteristics of a sad or hobo clown. Both figures feature bisque-like porcelain or ceramic faces with hand-painted melancholic expressions, red cheeks, and prominent red noses. Their bodies and hands are crafted from stuffed fabric, and each stands on a circular metal base. The first doll, with blonde faux-fur hair, wears a brown felt hat, a blue tweed-patterned coat over a yellow shirt, a brown felt scarf, and a plaid skirt, while carrying a small paper bag filled with fabric scraps. A tag on its back clearly indicates ”MADE IN THAILAND”. The second doll, with reddish-brown faux-fur hair, wears a brown felt hat, a light brown loosely woven coat, green textured trousers, and a patterned green bandana around its neck, also bearing a ”MADE IN THAILAND” tag. These dolls are consistent with the style of ”Hobo Clown” dolls found in the market, with some similar examples attributed to Heritage Mint Ltd.
