The metal bases exhibit an iridescent, dark grey-blue to purplish finish. The underside of one base retains a worn, circular label marked 'TOWLE, ' 'THE PROUDEST NAME IN SILVERPLATE, ' and 'TOWLE E.P. - GERMANY 4184,' indicating German origin and electro-plate construction.
