Wedgwood George Washington 250th Anniversary Jasperware Tray, 1982 - A commemorative round ceramic tray crafted by Josiah Wedgwood and Sons Limited for the Smithsonian Institution in 1982, celebrating the 250th Anniversary of George Washington's Birth. This piece is rendered in the characteristic Neoclassical style of Wedgwood Jasperware, featuring white bas-relief decoration on a pale blue ground. The central motif presents a profile bust of George Washington, flanked by the dates ”1732” and ”1982”, and encircled by the text ”250TH ANNIVERSARY GEORGE WASHINGTON”. The rim is adorned with a continuous white relief garland of intertwined leaves and vines. The reverse side is marked ”SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION” and other faint text. This tray is numbered 1610 in a limited edition of 2000 and is accompanied by its original certificate. It is presented on a twisted metal display stand. Diameter: 4.25 inches
