Luxo L-1 Adjustable Desk Lamp by Jac Jacobsen - This Luxo L-1 adjustable desk lamp is a classic mid-century modern design by Jac Jacobsen. The lamp features a dual articulating arm mechanism held in place by four steel tension springs, mounted to a circular weighted base. The construction consists of painted metal throughout the arms, shade, and base. The conical bell-shaped shade is designed with vertical cooling vents at the top and incorporates an integrated push-button switch. Specific markings include a cast diamond-shaped logo containing the letters LUXO with LAMP L-1 below it on the lower hinge bracket. The word NORWAY is cast into the side of the lower arm segment. The upper joint is cast with U.S. Pat. No. 2,787,434. A partial paper union label for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is affixed to the base hinge. The lamp is fitted with a two-prong electrical cord and currently contains a USA-made 120V 60W bulb. Roughly 26 x 24 inches.
