Reilly & Lee, circa 1920-1940. - A collection of octavo-format hardcover books from the Wizard of Oz series, comprising eight volumes. The group includes titles by L. Frank Baum: Rinkitink in Oz, The Tin Woodman of Oz, and The Land of Oz (a sequel to The Wizard of Oz). Also included are titles by Ruth Plumly Thompson: Ozoplaning with the Wizard of Oz, The Giant Horse of Oz, The Yellow Knight of Oz, Captain Salt in Oz, and Silver Princess in Oz. All volumes are published by Reilly & Lee and illustrated by John R. Neill, featuring both black-and-white and color-wash plates throughout. The volumes are bound in original pictorial cloth or paper-covered boards. Notable internal markings include a hand-colored title page in The Tin Woodman of Oz and a child's ownership inscription in one volume reading ”THIS BOOK BELONGS To Wendy N.” with an accompanying sketch. Several spines show the Reilly & Lee imprint.
