Azores * 1882/83 – King Luiz I. Front view. Stamps from Portugal with “AÇORES” overprint in black, type D. MF50, 50 réis, blue, chalk paper, perforation 12 ¾. Stamp on envelope sent from Madalena to New Bedford / USA (20.11.90) with transit via Horta (28.10.90) and Lisbon (07.11.90), to pay the first rate of a letter to the USA in accordance with the table of rates published in the D.G. No. 74 of 02.04.79. Stamp without damages or repairs, with good colour, obliterated with nominal postmark, struck in black, “MAGDALENA”. Fine and rare.
