Azores * 1923/24 – Ceres. Mainland stamps with red overprint “AÇORES”. MF193, 15c, black, smooth paper, perforated 12x11 ½. Eleven stamps, totalling 1$65, on an envelope posted in the mailbox on board a steamship bound for Dornbirn, Austria, with transit in Lisbon (27.02.29), to pay the first rate for a letter abroad weighing up to 20g (1$60) and with excess rate of 5c. Stamps cancelled with the ”PAQUETE / PAQUEBOT” (Hosking 536) origin stamp, applied in Lisbon, the steamship's first port of call. Finr and scarce.
