Circulated envelope from Funchal (01.04.80) to New York / USA (18.04.80), transiting through London (07.04.80) with two 10 reis stamps, yellow, smooth paper, 12 ¾ perforation, type II, MF37a + 3 10-reis stamps, green-yellow, smooth paper, 12 ¾ perforation, type II, MF27a, to pay the first rate(50 réis) for a letter from Portugal to the USA, weighing up to 15g, in accordance with the table in the Government Gazette no. 74 of 02.04.1879. Stamps without damage or repairs (only one 10 réis stamp, yellow, has a cut corner), with good colour and relief, cancelled with a double oval stamp, stamped in black ”CORREIO / FUNCHAL”. Rare use of mainland stamps on correspondence from Madeira. Certificate of expertise by J. Miranda da Mota. Very finr and scarce.
