Cape Verde * 1939/45 – World War II. Military Expedition to Cape Verde. Circulated Cover exempt from rate from Mindelo (01.06.44) to Belver, with transit through Lisbon (09.06.44), with handwritten censorship from Cape Verde on the back: “ CENSORED” and signature of the censor, Aspirant Aníbal Cadete, coincidentally the sender of the Cover, belonging to the 1st Infantry Battalion of the 23rd Infantry Regiment. Censored upon arrival in Lisbon with a chamois paper band and red lettering and a double oval stamp, stamped in violet: “CMPT / C. 24 / CENSORED”. Rectangular stamp of exemption from rate stamped in violet: “MILITARY EXPEDITION TO CAPE VERDE / EXEMPT FROM POSTAL CODE”.
