Lourenço Marques * 1914/18 – World War I. Censorship. 1911/16 – King Carlos I Mouchon, with the overprint “REPUBLICA”, issued in Lourenço Marques + Postal Tax * War Tax. Cover sent, from Lourenço Marques (March 20, 1917) to Zurich (April 1, 1917) and subject to censorship in Lourenço Marques on March 22, 1917, with a 50 réis brown stamp, MF84, to pay the first rate for a letter abroad weighing up to 15g + 1 cent green postal tax stamp, dashed border, creased lines, due at the time. Opened by the censors in Lourenço Marques and closed with a dark pink band, with black lettering “OPENED BY THE CENSORS / LOURENÇO MARQUES”. Very well preserved.
