Mozambique * Airmail. Damaged mail. 1939 – Portuguese Colonial Empire. Envelope circulated by air from Lourenço Marques (March 23, 1943) to Cuchi Mandvi / India (April 20, 1943), with transit through Cairo (March 29, 1943), where it was censored and marked with a 4A (Little) type stamp, with 40c, 2E and 5E stamps, MF296, 303 and 304. Subsequently censored by the British in India with white PC90 model bands with the legend on a single line “OPENED BY EXAMINER”, and marked with a black stamp “SALVAGED MAIL RECOVERED ON / WAR FRONT No. 736/OXS. SOUTH EAST ADEN”, also handwritten in Hindi. Watermarks are visible. Only known copy.
