Housed in the historic Richard H. Townsend House (built in 1898), it was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, when this photo was taken. In 1973 the board was entirely male, as women were not admitted to the club until a historic vote in 1988. High-ranking government officials, supreme court justices, and federal scientists traditionally comprised the executive roster. Condition: good
