WW2 Air Vice-Marshal Aleksander Maisner and Jerzy Cynk signed 80th anniv of the Polish Air Force. 80th ann special signed cover JS(CC)56. Jerzy Bogdan Cynk was a Polish-British historian, journalist and writer, author of numerous English and Polish language publications on aviation of Poland. During World War II he was a soldier of the Szare Szeregi and the Home Army. Brought up and educated in Poland. Air Vice-Marshal Aleksander Maisner. After the collapse of the country in September 1939, whilst making his way to France to join the Polish Army forming there, he was arrested by the Russians and spent the next two years in various labour camps in the far north of Russia. The German attack on Russia in June 1941 brought an amnesty to many of the imprisoned Poles and a Polish Army was formed in Russia. After attending the Officers' School of Artillery, Alec Maisner was posted to a regiment based in Iraq where he volunteered to transfer to the Polish Air Force, and was brought over to England for pilot training. Unable to return to Poland after the war, he decided to settle in the UK and was offered a permanent commission in the Royal Air Force. He did most of his flying in RAF Transport Command in the UK and overseas (No.70 Sqn) and in Bomber Command (No.50 Sqn) where he was involved in the introduction of two new types of aircraft - the Canberra and the Vulcan. He also completed a spell of flying duty with the Royal New Zealand Air Force as Wing Commander flying at RNZAF Ohakea. Good condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
