Operation Neptune D-day Navy cover WW2 Signed Lt General Robin Ross CB, OBE. Lieutenant General Robin Ross CB, OBE, Commandant General Royal Marines. Joined the corps in 1957 L has served with 41,42, 43 and 45 Commandos and as the Officer Commanding Royal Marines in HMS Mohawk. He was Commanding Officer of 40 Commando in 1979 to 81. He was in the Gulf War. He was subsequently commanded 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines and held the appointments of Major General Training Reserve and Special Forces and Major General Commando Forces prior to becoming Commandant General Royal Marines in 1993. He was appointed OBE in 1978 and following services in Turkey and Northern Iraq, was appointed CB in 1992 and an Officer of the American Legion of Merit in 1993.
