Sir Alf Ramrey signed rare 1972 England V West Germany European Cup cover with scarce Wembley 29/4/72 CDS postmark. West Germany beat England 3-1 in the first leg of their European Championship quarter-final at Wembley. West Germany's goals were scored by Uli Hoeneß, Günter Netzer (pen. ), and Gerd Müller, while England's single goal came from Allan Lee. The result gave West Germany a 3-1 aggregate victory, as the second leg ended in a 0-0 draw, sending England out of the tournament.
