Jimmy Doolittle signed 1983 Mitchell Bomber cover. Doolittle was an American military general and aviation pioneer. He received the Medal of Honor for the 'Doolittle Raid' in 1942, the first American air attack on the Japanese archipelago. The raid used Mitchell bombers and provided a major morale booster to the American public following Pearl Harbour four months previously.
