WW2 Atom Bomb Tom Ferebee Enola Gay Bombardier signed 80th Ann USAF cover RARE. Thomas W. Ferebee - Nuclear Museum Thomas W. Ferebee (1918-2000) was a Major in the U. S. Army Air Forces and the bombardier aboard the B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay who released the first atomic bomb, ”Little Boy, ” on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945. A veteran of 64 combat missions, Ferebee was considered the best bombardier by pilot Paul Tibbets. After the war, he served in the Strategic Air Command, in Vietnam, and later worked in real estate.
