ES32d Return from the Falklands cover Signed Sqn Ldr Tony Iveson Harrier pilot shot down. 19 Sp 82 Port Stanley Falkland Islands postmark on 10p Falkland Island Stamp. Cover depicts Falkland Islands map showing Battlefields, SS Canberra docking at Southampton escorted by many small boats and Helicopters, also Royal Star and Garter and Joint Services badges. 1 squadron was formed on 13th May 1912 and 1 Squadron has flown Hawker Siddeley Harrier since 1969 and was deployed to HMS Hermes during the Falkland Island campaign. Sqn Ldr Iveson was shot down whilst pressing home an attack at Goose Green to relieve gunfire on the Parachute Regiment, he evaded capture for several days until picked up from behind Argentinian lines by a Commando Brigade Gazelle Helicopter. Flown from Port Stanley to the crash site of Sqn Ldr Ivesons Harrier in Gazelle AH MK1 XZ290 Army Air Corps and then carried on foot by him along the route by which he made his successful evasion during the Falkland campaign.
