Rare WW2 Dambuster Townsend multiple signed cover. Award of the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal signed by D Allen, Jack Bettany, George Dove, DT Jones, JW Norris, RARE Dambuster raid veteran Bill Townsend and J G Wheeler. Flight Lieutenant William ”Bill” Townsend, a pilot who participated in the Dambusters raid (Operation Chastise), was honoured with a blue plaque at his former home in Bromsgrove. He flew one of the 19 Lancaster bombers in the raid on May 16-17, 1943, targeting German dams during World War II. Townsend, who later became a Flight Lieutenant, was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal for his actions during the raid. He passed away in April 1991. Good condition.
