Great War Cricklewood Airport cover Signed Wg. Cdr. McIntosh DFC AFC WW1 Pilot. 24 Sep 79 - Cricklewood Airport - flown on Handley Page British Island Airways, Southend - Ostend. Personally Signed by Wg. Cdr. McIntosh DFC AFC, ( All Weather Mac )the famous Chief Pilot of Handley Page Transport Ltd. Joined the airline 21st September 1919. Wg Cdr R H McIntosh in his early years in the Mercantile and as a World War 1 Amy Despatch Rider were followed by a fantastic flying career that lasted 54 years from 1917 to 1971 and flew 23, 681 hours as Captain of 143 different types. Leaned to fly with 4 Sqn Royal Flying Corps in 1917 after which he served in the Middle East. In October 1918 he was posted to 214 Sqn RAF in France where he converted to Handley Page bombers. In 1919 he transferred to No 1 and in September 1919 the RAF released him so that he could join Handley Page. Backstamped.
