Letter Signed by C. Wilcox, George Cross holder. Served in the Army 2nd World War. Handwritten Letter Dated 29 6 1993 Personally Signed by C. Wilcox, George Cross holder. Served in the Army 2nd World War. Awarded George Cross 1 Was a printer employed by Birmingham Corporation. Helped rescue fellow printer who was stuck on an arched sill 18 inches wide and 45 feet above the street. The man became frightened and unable to find the ladder to get down again. Mr Wilcox climbed up to help him and was able to support his workmate who was now suffering from stock. The pair stayed on the ledge for 45 minutes until the Fire Brigade arrived, by which time the man was unconscious. Date of Gazette 30 th September 1949.
