Great War HMS Lion Admiral F Clemitson signed 60th ann Surrender of German Fleet official Navy cover. Midshipman HMS Lion at surrender 1918. Admiral F. Clemitson was a Rear Admiral Francis Edward Clemitson in the Royal Navy, born in 1899 and retired in 1953. He served as a midshipman on HMS Lion during the surrender of the German Fleet in World War I and became a Rear Admiral, a rank equivalent to Major General. His son, Commander F. N. Clemitson, also served in the Royal Navy and married in 1933.
