1972 Kings Cup 50th anniversary signed collection inc. Prince William of Gloucester safely housed in the official album. Bill Randle organised 350 covers to be flown in all 41 planes during the race, with each one signed by the pilot. Prince William of Gloucester was the most famous participant and finished 14th in a Piper Cherokee Arrow. He was a grandson of King George V and fourth in line to the throne at the time of his birth. The prince died just one month later on the 28th August 1972 flying the same plane during a crash at the Goodyear Air Trophy Race. His autograph alone has RRP £100+. This is a collection of all 41 signed covers from the 1972 Kings Cup Air Race numbered 102 of 150. Each cover features a unique design related to aviation, with hand stamped cancellations adding to its authenticity and collectability.
