WW2 RAF ATA pilot M R Nicholson signed Hawker Hurricane Bookplate. 7 x 5 inch limited edition Printed card with border, perfect for matting or use as bookplate. M.R. Nicholson was a pilot with the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) during World War II. He was one of over 1,300 pilots who served with the ATA, a civilian organization responsible for ferrying aircraft from factories to airfields. He is one of the last surviving members of the ATA, joining at the beginning of 1944 when he was just 19. Martin made hundreds of wartime flights, mostly in single engine aircraft, and piloted the likes of Hurricanes, Mustangs, Barracudas, Hellcats of the Fleet Air Arm and, most famously of all, Spitfires.
