Sir Michael Cobham CBE signed cover RAF Flown 50 years of Probe and Drogue Flight Refuelling JS(CC)66 WW2 FDC. Flown in a VC10K 11 Nov 1999. A VITAL cog in Britain's long-distance military operations is air-to-air refuelling and the chief supplier to the RAF is the Dorset company Cobham. Sir Michael Cobham was the son of the firm's founder, the pioneering endurance pilot, Sir Alan, and took over the company on his father's retirement. By his own retirement, more than a quarter of a century later, Cobham had guided the company through massive expansion and flotation onto the stock market and provided equipment that had aided success in the Falklands conflict and the Gulf War.
