WW2 617 sqn John Langston signed 2003 60th ann Operation Chastise RAF Scampton postmarked cover, with image of McCarthy's crew. Limited edition of only 9 issued. john Langston joined the RAF straight from school and completed his initial training at the Air Squadron in Oxford. Following this, in 1942 he was sent for Navigator training in Canada, after which he completed further training in England with 5 Group Bomber Command. Langston was posted to 630 Squadron after D-Day where the crews first flights included daylight raids in support of the invasion forces. Throughout his time at 630 Squadron, the crew completed operations in Nuremberg, Munich and Stuttgart. After 20 trips, the crew was posted to 189 Squadron and then served in 617 Squadron where they had to learn how to operate the automatic bomb site. Towards the end of the war, Langston was engaged in operations to bomb bridges to prevent fuel reserves reaching German troops. Good condition Est.
