Commemorative Trowel (not hallmarked) with Local Significance - Commemorative Trowel (not hallmarked) celebrating Ronald Ross Esq laying the foundation stone to the 1891 building of the Tain Free Church. Now the Parish Church.   Thanks to the customer for the research round this item we now know Ronald Ross was in his 80s when he laid the stone. The Church cost £5,000 to build and Mr Ross was given the opportunity because he donated £1,000 to the chruch.  Little known fact, they put a time capsule behind the foundation stone too
