Autograph of Basil Rathbone (1892–1967) - This image features the English actor holding two West Highland White Terriers, his own beloved show dogs. Basil Rathbone was a stage and film actor best known for playing Sherlock Holmes in 14 Hollywood films made between 1939 and 1946 produced by 20th Century Fox. According to Hollywood legend, Rathbone was Margaret Mitchell's first choice to play Rhett Butler in the film version of her novel Gone with the Wind. Despite his film success, Rathbone always insisted that he wished to be remembered for his stage career. He said that his favourite role was Romeo.
