Bidspirit auction | Vintage Indian textile printing block

Vintage Indian textile printing block - Measures 16” long. Make a lovely decorative piece. Likely used to create intricate patterns on fabric, similar to Edwardian or Victorian-era examples. Made of hardwood with intricate patterns formed blades hammered into the surface;  marked ”H1303” and ”MALLOW”, which may indicate a specific design pattern or manufacturer identifier. The block shows signs of age and use, typical for antique printing tools Numbers like ”HI303” were typically painted on the side of the block for easy identification when stored on long warehouse shelves. The ”HI” prefix may refer to a specific collection, a ”Hand-Inlaid” technique (where copper strips are used for fine lines), or the initials of a particular factory.
