Caledonian Canal Lock Keeper's Diary - 1903 - An extraordinary document and piece of local social history. The lock keeper at Clachnaharry kept a diary of boats that came through the lock from Jan to Oct 1903. It also includes some cracking period advertisements.  Here it is ready for you to own and enjoy working out the boats that travelled. You might be bidding against Cheeky himself as he sailed the Canal in 1984 with Gordonstoun School.  The Caledonian Canal in Scotland was built between 1803 and 1822, with formal opening in 1822, although full completion and repairs continued until around 1847. Designed by renowned engineer Thomas Telford with William Jessop, the 60-mile-long canal was designed to connect Scotland's east and west coasts.
