Pair of Japanese Satsuma earthenware pottery - The large vase features a dark, heavily decorated body with a scene of figures in a garden, characteristic of export Satsuma ware. The smaller vase displays similar figural panels with detailed gold gilding and floral motifs. Satsuma ware originated in the Kagoshima prefecture and became highly popular in the West during the Meiji period (1868–1912).
