19th Century Thistle Glass - Thistle or cordial glass - likely to be Regency and almost 200 years old. The vessel features a funnel-shaped bowl of thistle form with a slightly flared rim, decorated with a wide horizontal band of hand-cut diamond facets. The complex stem is composed of a large central multi-lobed knop, which has been faceted to a brilliant finish, resting upon a smaller plain spherical knop. The entire piece is supported by a broad, slightly conical foot. The lead glass displays a subtle greyish tint and contains characteristic tiny seed bubbles consistent with hand-blown glass of the period. Height: Approximately 6.5 inches.
