Pitcairn Island Wood Pen Holder Signed by Lancy Christian - A hand-carved wooden pen holder from Pitcairn Island, identified by the maker's inscription as the work of Lancy Christian. The piece is constructed from two varieties of wood, featuring a dark-toned hardwood body and base with an inset plaque of lighter-colored wood. The front face of the holder displays a central relief carving of the profile of Pitcairn Island. The plaque is further decorated with incised text that reads: PITCAIRN ISLAND, HOME OF THE MUTINEERS OF HMS BOUNTY, LANDED JANUARY 23. 1790., MADE BY LANCY CHRISTIAN. The arched top of the block contains four drilled circular holes intended for writing implements. Lancy Christian was a documented Pitcairn Island craftsman and a direct descendant of Fletcher Christian, the leader of the 1789 mutiny on the HMS Bounty.
