Two Papier-mache Boxes with Hand Painted Portrait Miniatures - A group of two lacquered papier-mache boxes, each featuring a hand-painted portrait miniature of a woman on the lid. The circular box has a pull-off lid decorated with a figure in a red dress wearing a plumed hat against a dark background. The interior of this box is finished in black lacquer. The rectangular box is constructed with a hinged lid depicting a seated woman in an off-the-shoulder dress with a lace collar and a gold-colored brooch. This is Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightingale who features in the Hollywood movie 'The Greatest Showman' This box opens to reveal a natural wood-toned interior. No maker marks or signatures are present on either piece.
