British School, Early 20th Century, Rural Landscape with Farmstead and Sheep - This landscape watercolor on paper depicts a rural scene featuring a white-walled farm cottage nestled beside a row of pointed haystacks under a vast, turbulent sky filled with heavy gray clouds and birds in flight. In the foreground, two sheep graze in a wide, golden-hued field, while distant blue hills are visible on the left horizon. The artwork is executed with an atmospheric touch characteristic of early 20th-century British landscape painting. The work is housed in a gilt-finished wooden frame with a cream-colored mat featuring a hand-drawn ink border. The verso features a wood-panel backing with two distinct printed labels. One label from Thomas Agnew and Sons identifies the firm as Fine Art Publishers to His Majesty, with locations at 43 Old Bond St, London; 22 Place Vendome, Paris; and 14 Exchange Street, Manchester. A second label notes the work was the property of N. M. Edmondson and E. V. Pratt. A faint, illegible signature is present in the lower left corner.
