French Louis XVI Style Painted and Caned Window Bench - A French Louis XVI style window bench featuring a carved and painted wood frame. The piece is designed with a low-profile, U-shaped silhouette, suitable for use as a banquette or hall settee. It features a double-caned backrest with a central openwork floral medallion. The frame is ornamented with classical neoclassical motifs, including a rope-twist and floral-carved apron with circular floral rosettes at the leg blocks. The bench stands on four tapered, fluted legs with carved foliate accents at the knees, terminating in small toupie feet. Both the seat and the two shaped back panels are fitted with hand-woven cane. The frame is finished in a distressed off-white paint. No labels or maker marks were observed on the piece.
