Victorian Mahogany Pedestal Cylinder Desk - A late 19th-century mahogany pedestal desk featuring a solid cylinder roll-top lid. The cylinder top, fitted with two turned wooden knobs, opens to reveal a multi-compartment interior. The interior is fitted with six central pigeonholes featuring decorative arched valances, flanked by two banks of three small drawers, with an additional three shallow drawers running along the base of the cabinet. The interior drawer fronts are finished in a contrasting light-colored wood veneer. The desk features a pull-out writing slide inset with three black leather panels. The central leather panel is hinged and can be adjusted upwards to serve as a book or document rest. The desk is supported by twin pedestals, each containing three graduated drawers with turned mahogany knobs and brass locks. The top surface of the desk is finished with a low, three-sided gallery rail. Height: 46 inches Width: 52 inches Depth: 28 inches.
