Victorian Carved Oak Tall Davenport Bureau Cabinet - A Victorian carved oak tall Davenport bureau cabinet. The piece features a decorative superstructure with a galleried crest, turned finials, and foliate relief carvings above two small drawers with ornate brass bail handles and a horizontal mirror. The slanted writing surface is inset with a red leather panel and opens on brass hinges to a storage compartment lined with highly figured burr walnut veneer, containing five scalloped-edge cubbies for organization. The top surface of the desk includes two square inkwell recesses and a central rectangular slot for a pen tray. The base contains a bank of four drawers on the right side with decorative brass hardware and a front-facing door featuring three panels with relief-carved floral and leaf motifs. The desk is raised on four short square legs with brass casters.
