Redman and Hales Ltd George III Style Mahogany Bachelors Chest - A George III style bachelors chest manufactured by Redman and Hales Ltd. of Hatfield Peverel, Essex. This compact chest of drawers features a case constructed from mahogany with highly figured flame mahogany veneers applied to the three drawer fronts. The drawer fronts are finished with cockbeaded edges and fitted with brass batwing-style drawer pulls with swan-neck handles and corresponding brass escutcheons. The chest is supported by traditional bracket feet. The back panel is constructed from solid or plywood boards finished with a reddish-brown wash. A white rectangular maker label is affixed to the rear top rail reading MADE BY Redman and Hales Ltd. HATFIELD PEVEREL CHELMSFORD ESSEX. Directly above the label on the wooden rail is an impressed stamp reading R.MASON applied in an inverted orientation.
