A Pair of 20th Century James Dixon & Sons Sterling Silver Candlesticks - A pair of early 20th-century sterling silver candlesticks designed in the Rococo Revival style. Total weight 233.31g Each candlestick is constructed from sterling silver using repousse and chasing techniques to create high-relief ornamentation. The square, stepped bases feature incurved corners and rest on four scrolled feet, supporting knopped stems and bell-shaped candle cups with removable matching sconces. The base of each piece is impressed with a maker mark consisting of J D in separate cartouches, a lion passant, an uncrowned leopard head, and a lowercase f in a shield. The removable sconces also bear the lion passant, leopard head, and lowercase f date letter. The underside reveals a hollow construction with central metal support rods. Height: Approximately 5.5 to 6 inches.
