A Collection of 19th Century Clews Ironstone Basket and Soup Plates - A collection of 19th-century blue and white transfer-printed ironstone ceramics produced by James and Ralph Clews from the Service of the Earl of Airlie. The group contains an oval footed basket with scroll-form handles and a reticulated openwork border, paired with a matching pierced underplate. Two deep soup plates with scalloped rims and grapevine borders are also included. The basket set features classical architectural ruins, while the plates depict a floral still-life with a bird. A wide grapevine border and a gilt edge decorate the rim of each soup plate. An impressed circular mark on the reverse of the plates shows the characters WARRANTED, STAFFORDSHIRE, and CLEWS above a central crown icon. Typed labels reference an 1821 service for the Earl of Airlie, while a handwritten label on the basket names Agnes Ballingal.
