A 19th Century Hardwood Clock Reel Yarn Winder - An antique nineteenth-century yarn winder crafted from turned hardwood and iron - local to Tain. The device features a six-spoke rotating wheel, each arm terminating in a T-shaped crossbar. A central vertical support houses a mechanical gear system comprising wooden and iron components designed to count rotations. The unit is supported by a shallow rectangular tray set on three dowel-style legs. The wood displays a dark-stained finish with a visible aged patina throughout. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on any of the surfaces. A separate turned wooden spindle with a metal tip is included with the lot.
