A Pair of 19th Century Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Vases - A pair of antique Chinese porcelain vases decorated in underglaze blue and white. Each vase is constructed with a baluster-shaped body that tapers to a narrow neck and terminates in a dramatically flared trumpet rim. The pieces have been modified for conversion into table lamps with the addition of turned wooden and cork plugs at the mouth, into which threaded metal lamp pipes are inserted. The primary decoration consists of scrolling floral sprays and blossoms interspersed with gnarled pine tree branches. The necks are adorned with circular landscape medallions set against a dense blue ground, while the interior rim features a radial feather-style border. The unglazed bases are largely obscured by a thick white adhesive residue, and no maker marks or reign marks are visible on the porcelain surfaces.
