Pre-Columbian Moche Ceramic Stirrup Spout Vessel - A Pre-Columbian zoomorphic stirrup spout vessel crafted from blackware ceramic. The vessel features a stout, rectangular chamber with rounded corners supporting a sculpted quadrupedal figure. A curved stirrup handle extends from the center of the animal's back to the rear of the base, terminating in a short cylindrical spout. The piece is constructed with a reduced-fire technique typical of North Coast Peruvian ceramic traditions. The crowning figure is modeled as a crouching feline, likely a jaguar or puma, holding a small human head within its open jaws. The animal displays large, bulging eyes formed by concentric circles and rounded ears. The surface exhibits a matte dark gray to black color with visible mineral deposits and grayish-white encrustations throughout the recessed areas.
